Show Notes:
Whole Life Learning Center focuses on holistic education and includes parent education courses and is a center for sustainability. Michael talks about the journey that led him to start the center.
Death bed meditation led Michael to realize that he wasn’t pursuing his passion (before starting the school). The meditation is to imagine ourselves in our death bed and ask if we would be satisfied with our life if we continue to live the life we are currently living.
Main differences you see between Whole Life Learning (and other holistic education schools) from conventional education.
Big focus on community connection at Whole Life Learning – social and emotional development (not just education above the shoulders) is a high priority at the school.
Focusing not only on aptitudes academically but also attitudes, because that is what going to create lifelong learnings. Kids have an opportunity to explore who they are at Whole Life Learning Center, a bit different from traditional education.
Your passion and how can you serve others can help determine a purpose. Students learn teachers much more than they learn the facts that were shared in the class. So, it is the teacher’s job to be an inspired learner as well.
Obstacles are going to happen, but it is not about what happens, is about how do you respond to what happens. Embrace conflicts as an opportunity for learning. Learning should be joyful not stressfully chasing an end goal. Michael discusses the vision for the Center.
