Summary:
Ellie Rome, Holistic Health Coach and Nutrition Counselor, Founder of Mindfulbellie, shares with us today her transformational journey of overcoming her sugar addiction and becoming a Health Coaching Practitioner. She is a Chemical Engineer who became a certified Health Coach after recovering from an autoimmune thyroid condition, chronic fatigue, stubborn weight gain, sugar addiction, IBS, brain fog, acne eczema, and the list goes on. In college, she started struggling with many health issues, like the ones mentioned above, so she decided to ask for help visiting 6 different conventional doctors. Not having found a solution for the root cause of her problem she visited a naturopath and discovered that her eating habits were one of the main drivers for her health disorders. It was then when she was tested for food sensitivities and discovered that she was sensitive to gluten, dairy, soy, and eggs and started a 3-month diet with no results. Finally, she decided to try again a dairy‐gluten free diet for 30 days, excluding sugar. This diet changed her world, “it was the first time in my life when I didn’t crave sugar which I really thought it was not humanly possible.” By the 30th day, all her symptoms were gone. These results were life changers for Ellie so she decided to dedicate her life to study nutrition and health disorders in-depth to help others with similar problems. Navigating her sugar addiction journey towards becoming a Holistic Health Coaching Practitioner has become her path.

Sugar Addiction since she was a child.
Every decision she made in her childhood was about “can I get sugar at this moment?”
Sugar was her medicine to find joy and happiness.
Sugar was her medicine to cope with stress and challenges when she was in College.
Gained 30 pounds.
Developed health symptoms such as chronic fatigue – hair loss – brain fogs – numbness in toes – short of breath.
Shame about her body – Isolation from friends.
Unhealthy relationship with food.
Starved – purged.
Used to take Adderall.
Excessive weight was her door for change.
Visited 6 conventional doctors all of whom didn’t have an answer.
Journey with a Naturopath.
3 month dairy-gluten free diet – no result.
30 day dairy-gluten and sugar free diet.
All her symptoms went away in 30 days.
Elimination diet.
Lost half of her weight in 30 days. Part of it was inflammation.
Pausing and asking: “I am actually hungry?” Why I am reaching to this now?”
Creating space and recognizing patterns.
Causes for health disorder ‐ misinformation regarding nutrition, food and life stress.
Introducing Self Love. Compassion for yourself.
Mindful eating.
Energy vibration.
Awareness and mindfulness can help you transcend.
The underline reasons of addiction to sugar. “My path to mindfulness was asking me this question throughout the day” -“If I truly and deeply love myself in this moment, what would I choose, what would I do?”
